Distinguished Heroes Award
The Distinguished Hero award is given to individuals or companies who have demonstrated consistent and outstanding service with Operation Project HOPE. These volunteers have shown dedication to the communities we serve and commitment to accomplishing the mission and vision of Operation Project HOPE through excellence and love.
Our 2024 Distinguished Heroes are:
Heather A. Parker, Manuel-Paolo Paredes, Rubi B. Contreras, and Ryan Marlow.
Each of these fine, dedicated volunteers have selflessly given of their time to many schools and communities for several years. They’ve painted, organized, gardened, cleaned, and led teams around them to ensure that each child that passes through our schools knows someone cared about them. We are delighted to formally extend our gratitude to these amazing Distinguished Heroes.

Heather has served dozens of schools and communities through the years. She graduated from the OPH Leadership Academy with Team 6 and currently serves on the OPH Board of Directors. We can usually find Heather spreading joy in the teachers lounge, welcoming volunteers as they check in, and connecting OPH to neighborhood partners. Heather, thank you for bringing your pizazz wherever we serve.
Paolo graduated from the OPH Leadership Academy with Team 2 in 2017 and has
been a constant volunteer ever since. Over the years, Paolo continues to show
up with joy and dedication to each school and community we serve. Paolo
volunteers on the OPH Board of Directors, maintains our website, and he’s
usually making us laugh for another great photo op. Paolo, thank you for
always saying “Yes” to supporting us through OPH.
Rubi has been supporting OPH schools for many years and completed the OPH
Leadership Academy with Team 8. We usually see Rubi brightening up each
campus with her creativity and BEE-utiful murals. Rubi, thank you for
inspiring us with your paintings and bringing muralists together for the children.
Ryan is a dedicated and thoughtful volunteer, giving his time, talent, and
treasure to our communities year after year. Ryan currently serves on the OPH
Board of Directors as Secretary and is a Leadership Academy graduate from
Team 5. At our schools, you can usually find Ryan leading our landscaping
team, supporting with logistics, and lending a hand whenever he can. Ryan,
thank you for your countless hours of support and service through OPH.
