Stacey OkutakeDirector
Stacey Okutake built the foundation of her advertising work at New York University where she studied the interaction between American society and the media and graduated with a BS in Communications. Through expanding her career in the advertising field through graphic design and commercial production, she has the ability to understand the heart of her audience and how to communicate a message to them.
Using these skills and developing her artistic talents, she created the accessory brand Mas & Nobu where she designs, makes and sells the first interactive lenticular origami earring that is deeply rooted in her Japanese-American history. She creates on the foundation of Mas & Nobu, as these are the names of her grandmothers. Her earring can be seen on the show Grown-ish worn by the leading star, Yara Shahidi. Through this brand, Stacey provides individuals with a way to visually express themselves, self-identify and hopes to give each customer a positive experience that gives them a bit more confidence in their daily lives. Mas & Nobu is a distributor of accessories and an avenue to tell the history of Japanese-Americans. Her origami earrings are a familiar example of one of the many stories about living that hyphenated life in America, and she hopes to inspire others from different walks of life to tell their own story through visual art. She strongly believes that the ripple effect can be used to help children, their communities and then beyond. Operation Project HOPE uses this effective method to improve the world and this is the reason why she joins the board of directors. Her focus is to help spread the word, heart and methods of Operation Project HOPE in an effort to better her city and hopefully this country. |
